CSEA Award Nominations
CSEA members are the essential workers who make a difference in their schools and community colleges every day. With the work of classified employees often taken for granted, it’s important that we recognize the contributions of members and honor their achievements.
That’s why CSEA presents several awards each year to salute outstanding classified employees and CSEA members, including: Life Member, Honor Roll, Richard C. Bartlett Activist of the Year, William P. Schwartz Humanitarian of the Year, Laurence Twoaxe Unity Award, and Member of the Year Awards.

Life Member and Honor Roll
Approved by a vote of the CSEA annual conference delegates, Life Membership and Honor Roll placement are awarded to CSEA activists in recognition of extraordinary service to CSEA. The award of Life Membership is CSEA’s highest honor.

Richard C. Bartlett Activist of the Year
Richard C. Bartlett Activist of the Year Award recognizes members who vigorously advocate in political activities or specific causes important to the mission and goals of CSEA.

William P. Schwartz Humanitarian of the Year
William P. Schwartz Humanitarian of the Year Award is given to a person who continues CSEA founder Bill Schwartz’ legacy of unselfish concern and reflects a noble desire to improve the lives of CSEA members and/or the community at large.

Laurence Twoaxe Unity Award
The Laurence Twoaxe Unity Award, named after CSEA’s first association president, honors an individual (active or retired) who continues the legacy of uniting classified employees through organizing events and activities aimed at improving the lives of CSEA members and the community.

Member of the Year Award
Each year, CSEA presents its Member of the Year Award to up to five outstanding members. These members are recognized for their commitment and dedication to the students of California, community involvement, and activism in CSEA. The award is presented at the annual conference and accompanied by a video tribute to honor their achievement.
