CSEA Grants and Scholarships Inspire Members

Member Career Grant Winners, Scholarship Program Announcements

by Matt Murphy

When you’re committed to furthering the education of others, your own education can sometimes become secondary. But CSEA’s commitment to members provides post-secondary scholarships, grants, subsidies, and financial assistance for those in pursuit of their educational goals.

For decades, CSEA members and their dependents have benefitted from CSEA and Union Plus (AFL-CIO) scholarships and grants, including Member Career Grants (MCG) and subsidies.

With these one-time grants and scholarships, CSEA members can receive help with paying for the increasing financial costs of higher education while reinforcing the profound belief in themselves that a post-secondary education is indeed possible.

Though scholarships and grants play a small role in how recipients accomplish their educational goals, CSEA has always believed in helping members and their families navigate the intimidating demands of higher education. Especially when books, school supplies, and class fees stand in the way.

For decades, CSEA has awarded over $135,000 to help members and their dependents aspire for more. Because while classified workers work every day to help make the education of others possible, now is the time to focus on yours.

This year, 42 members were awarded career grants of $1,000 each and 68 member dependents will receive $1,000 scholarships later this year. For those who applied for the national AFL-CIO Union Plus scholarships, winners are also expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
