CSEA position on Senate budget priorities

At the end of April, Democrats in the California Senate announced their “Putting Wealth to Work” budget proposal, which encompasses a range of new spending proposals, including major investments in education thanks to a record budget surplus of $68 billion. CSEA issued the following press release in response to the budget proposal, which includes funding for our top legislative bills.

CSEA-sponsored bills successfully push forward

As CSEA members await California’s summer warmth, CSEA’s legislative bills are already warming up to state lawmakers. With all six of this year’s legislative proposals carried by labor allies in the legislature, CSEA is making the voices of classified workers heard loud and clear. All six bills are moving forward through their respective committees, with five already passed out of committee with overwhelming support. CSEA’s top-priority bill, SB 878 (Skinner), dubbed the Road to Success, successfully passed the Senate Education Committee on a 6-0 bipartisan vote.

CSEA-endorsed candidates for 2022

As CSEA continues to lobby for California’s classified school employees in Sacramento, we continue our work to ensure pro-labor and pro-public education candidates are elected in November. Since the beginning of 2022, the Association has endorsed more than 100 California candidates for the 2022 primary elections. The Association’s political endorsements require a multi-tiered process that involves many different CSEA stakeholders.

What’s the Word on elections and legislation

There is much work for CSEA in the coming months to ensure our sponsored bills are passed and our endorsed candidates win election. Hear all about this year’s elections and legislation, recorded from the state capitol in Sacramento, in the latest episode of Association President Matthew “Shane” Dishman’s “What’s the Word?"
