President's message

CSEA siblings,

For the past year, your Board of Directors and I have been focused on expanding training opportunities to any member who wants to learn more about their rights and how to get involved in their union. As a result, thousands of members – from our newest members, to me and the Board, to retirees – have participated in CSEA learning opportunities that help us be informed, engaged and united.

This effort continues with a wide variety of training opportunities planned for the year ahead, including Super Session, Area Leadership Institutes, two Maintenance and Operations Academy dates, Paraeducator Conference, Communications Academy and numerous state-level trainings for regional representatives, union stewards and member leaders.

At the local level, our field offices regularly offer trainings for Know Your Rights, New Employee Orientation presenters, Union Steward certification, Bargaining 101 and Site Representative training, to name just a few. Check out the master calendar of upcoming events and training on our website, then select your field office to see all the training opportunities in your area!

I am thrilled to welcome our new area directors who were elected by their members, and our new state officers who were elected by delegates at Annual Conference to represent our members and our union at the state level.

Please join me in welcoming new members to the Board of Directors:

  • Second Vice President Jerry White
  • Secretary Joshua Leimann
  • Area E Director Rosemarie Lopes-Horn
  • Area G Director Olivia De Leon

Your returning board members and I look forward to working with them to continue our agenda of building unity, inclusion and opportunity for all our union siblings.

I hope your school year is off to a good start and you find fulfillment in giving your students the best learning environment possible. After all, that is why we do what we do.

In Solidarity,

Adam Weinberger, Association President
